Venus, Jupiter and the moon came together tonight to create a smiley face. It was the first event in the last few days that truly made me smile. It was like nature's way of telling that the worst is over.

beautiful..thanks for sharing..we saw it on a blue sky at abt 6 pm before twilight and thats when my husband remarked it looked like a beautiful face..by the time we got home it was dark and the clouds had gathered :(
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Simply gorgeous. Saru has a talent of bringing out the best in everything he photographs. It is time to send this nugget to BBC. I found a link for you. A portion of bbc's website is allocated to viewer's photos at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/default.stm
ReplyDeleteYou should send this photo to yourpics@bbc.co.uk before someone else who has done a half-assed job does.
Simply inspiring and smiling. :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I couldn't see it. :(
Thanks for sharing this moment.
Shree - Thanks and I hope so too.
ReplyDeleteLakshmi, I wish we had known about this earlier in the evening. I would have loved to see it on a blue sky.
Bhaskar,
Tons of people will be taking awesome pictures with their telescopic lenses....so I dont think these are bbc-worthy.
Cool! A friend of mine had seen this and called me to take a pic, but I could not because of the clouds. Glad that you took it and I found you :)
ReplyDeleteCuckoo,
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring indeed. Just what we needed in this terror-stricken atmosphere.
Ashes,
Welcome to my blog. I was lucky to get this picture. I setup the tripod and was ready to click when I saw that the camera battery was low. We hurriedly charged it for 10 mins, ran to the terrace and took this picture before it moved higher in the sky.
That's a fantastic picture!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was just reading about this in "http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7759146.stm"
Once you see this you will agree that it needs to be replaced with Saru's picture.
Magnificent. A friend of mine - an amateur astronomer – emailed me about it and his words were full of excitement; I could literally “see” him topple over his equipment :-)
ReplyDeleteCool photo Saru, may be we can print it on T-shirts and sell them..:-).
ReplyDeleteBindu, Shanti, Fida,
ReplyDeleteThanks
Apparently the full moon on Dec 12 is going to be the closest to earth in 15 years.

Chrome3d, Loiuse, Gaelyn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment.
Chockka,
If it makes you feel better, even we didn't know about it until a friend called us to tell about it. Newspapers / TV channels are too preoccupied with Mumbai's attacks to report about these things.
Thanks for sharing, I came to know about this day later :D Lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteYour blog makes me laugh! I wouldn't share icecream with my husband either! :P
ReplyDeleteI am sorry that your home city has been shown in such a negative way this last week or so. Peace on you.
Thanks Mridula.
ReplyDeleteGnometree- It is not just ice cream, I don't share any desserts with anybody:)

ReplyDeletethanks for you comment & visit.this pic is so beautiful ,thanks for shearing with us such a nice view.
Glad you got this on your camera and put it in Sky Watch!
ReplyDeleteDarn it...I had heard about this and wanted to watch it but it turned out to be a really cloudy evening and I missed it. Your photo of it is just lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely clear pictures! I caught the conjunction also on my blog, I was lucky enough to see the occlusion of Venus behind the moon!
ReplyDelete:) Nice one Vamsee. I posted a similar picture, taken from Bhutan!
ReplyDeleteVery cute picture! You should have called and told me to see the sky too. I was in the train on 1st night, but surely could have peeped out!
