Monsoon Magic in Mumbai

It has been almost a month since we came back from our 10 day trip to France, but I am going through a patch of 'writer's block', so bear with me while I publish those travelogues.

Meanwhile, enjoy these pictures from the Monsoons in Mumbai. We have been driving to the hills every weekend this last month and I can never get tired of the lush green scenery.

A hut with a view

Water drainage Pipe

Train Tracks of the Matheran Toy Train

Lush green hillsides on the way to Matheran

Waterfalls....they are everywhere this season!

It doesn't get more green than this?

On the way to Matheran.....Life goes on!

  24. vj,
I agree, it does not get greener than this. On our drive we saw very beautiful paddy fields and even photographed them, but they did not pass Saru's photography standards, so could not post.

    Wandering souls,
Yes. Some people think it is a pain, but I love monsoons. Weather is perfect and it is green all around us. I like the last picture too.

    Jayanti,
Thanks. Will go hiking this weekend. I am working on the France blog...will try and publish it this weekend.

    Vidya,
NOPE...we are NOT going to stop making you miss Mumbai. Luckily for us, we are able to look at the beauty without having to go through the bad parts that you did when you lived here.
As for the roads...rain washed away all the dirt!

  26. The hills here look absolutely denuded compared to the ones you have there in Mumbai. I swear I can see people on the hills from our balcony, in stark contrast to the dry brown grass. Very beautiful pictures Vamsee.

  32. Bhaskar,
This place is the same as the bay area...only difference is that the monsoons last 4 months here. A month after the rain stops, it is all big brown hills, so I am trying to take in as much as I can in these few months.

    Baruch
    Thanks

    Karuna / Aruna,
Monsoons are awesome here. The hills are covered with a shade of green that you don't see too often. It is just great to drive around.

  34. Aditi,
It is so good to see your comment. Saru has been telling me that all my regular readers will stop coming to my blog if I don't post regularly, but I can't do this like a job!!

Monsoons in India are indeed the best. I didn't realise how much I missed them until I moved here. Rain in California is so cold and dreary and miserable, but here it is loud and beautiful in an uplifting sort of way. My uncle, who came on the trip was lamenting on the fact that rain and fog were obscuring the views, but Saru and I just sat....eating hot corn and enjoying the rain lash out at the hills. 10 mins later, it was over and the views cleared up. Beautiful day!
